So, it’s finally here, Day 7, our last day of riding after an incredible week of sensational yet challenging riding, beautiful scenery, amazing weather and teamwork to make it this far, raising over $915k to date for our charity partners!
There were mixed emotions amongst the riders today with a sense of sadness, excitement and apprehension as we prepared bright and early to head out to the beautiful Dandenong Ranges for two long climbs of circa 6kms and 8kms, both with an average 4% gradient…..it was a tough grind and everyone paced themselves to make it to the top where we grouped at the spectacular SkyHigh Lookout, Mount Dandenong.
After a quick and exhilarating decent, the peloton wound its way back through the Melbourne traffic toward the Bahari in Richmond, where we were treated to a wonderful Greek feast and refreshing cold drinks on a very hot afternoon.
Only 10kms back to the hotel to complete the relatively short 121km ride today, although with close 1,100kms covered over the week and over 11,000m of elevation, there were some pretty tired bodies and sore legs amongst us, keen to get back to celebrate our achievements and a combination of new and reinforced friendships.
