The 2025 Melbourne Chain Reaction Challenge is underway, with a fresh crew of riders (16 of them on their first Challenge) ready to take on New Zealand’s stunning North Island! We kicked off Day 1 in style - 110km of rolling terrain, ferry rides, stunning views, and some punchy climbs to really shakeout the legs.
We rolled out from our airport hotel at 7am, making our way to the ferry terminal through suburban Auckland.

The scenic ferry ride to Waiheke Island offered a moment of calm before the real challenge began- steep, punchy climbs that immediately put the legs to work, including a relentless 1km stretch with a 10% gradient.

A well-earned lunch stop at Onetangi Beach gave the team a chance to regroup, with some cooling off in the bay before tackling some more big climbs on the way back to the ferry.

Rolling into the hotel, 110km down, many more to go- a strong start to what promises to be an unforgettable week.
