A classic Chain Reaction stage awaits the peloton on day 3 covering 150km through the scenic hills of McLaren Vale and a loop around Victor Harbour.
We awake to find clear skies, acceptable temperatures (for the moment) and the most picturesque sunrise so far in this year’s ride. We began the day with a handicapped challenge of the famed Willunga Hill, an iconic climb in Australian Cycling.
The blue waters and Victor Harbour awaits the peloton for a mid-morning drinks stop after a very difficult 25km free play grind through the rolling hills of Mt Compass.
The stunning scenery surrounds us as we reach The Victory Hotel in Sellicks Beach for what is the most satisfying lunch of the trip yet, especially following a challenging ascent out of Victor Harbour.
Leaving lunch the peloton gathered and was led out by the eldest (67) and the youngest (22) riders, a great sight and a hallmark of a Chain Reaction ride - age is irrelevant in our pursuit of raising funds for kids.
The test is well underway, a huge thankyou to our sponsors. Tomorrow brings the anticipation of exploring the Barossa Valley.
Love to all our family and friends for allowing us to challenge ourselves for the betterment of those that are less fortunate.
