Help me help them!

I am honored to be participating in Chain Reaction for the second time. Chain Reaction is a conduit for raising money for very worthwhile causes. The fundraising event this year is a bike ride, 7 days and 1000km long in New Zealand. The purpose and goal is to raise awareness and funds for two amazing charities - "So They Can" and "BaptistCare HOPESTREET". Both of these organizations are dedicated to improving the lives of those in need, and I am very proud to support their efforts.

"So They Can" is a charity that helps to break the cycle of poverty through education in Africa, providing children with the tools and resources they need to succeed. "BaptistCare HOPESTREET" is an organization that supports people experiencing homelessness, providing them with the necessary support and services to get back on their feet. By participating in this charity bike ride, I am not only pushing myself physically, but I am also doing my part to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I am honored to be able to support these two charities and I hope that my efforts will make a meaningful difference. Please dig deep and help me reach and even exceed my fundraising goal.

Last indoor training ride before heading down under

I'm looking forward to getting off the trainer and starting the 7 day challenge in 5 days. Hopefully I'll have the chance to get out in Christchurch for a ride or two before we officially start.

Winter training

Those who know me well might be thinking that 1000km over 7 days is not a huge deal but I have to be honest, I have enjoyed rich food a little too much over the winter and I am definitely not at fighting weight (don't believe me, just look at the double chin on that picture :)). Add to that the fact that Utah is having its snowiest winter in 20 years preventing any outdoor cycling and that adds up to this event being a challenging 7 days. My training has consisted of indoor cycling sessions and hikes with my miniature Aussie Doodle, not exactly the ideal training plan for this type of event.  It'll certainly be fun though and I'm really looking forward to getting worked by the team from Sydney who I imagine are all in great shape.  At least I'll have a couple of my American mates - Brandon Parke and Michael Barnett) with me who are in the same boat as I am.
