The Chain Reaction Challenge Victoria and New South Wales 2015

28 November 2015 Chain Reaction

The Chain Reaction Challenge Victoria and New South Wales 2015 offered riders an incredible tour of New Zealand’s South Island, riding some of the world’s best cycling roads. Riders cycled the iconic Arthur’s Pass, cruised the South Island’s stunning west coast, past the beautiful Franz Joseph and Fox Glaciers and rode the Crown Range from Wanaka through to the adventure capital of the world, Queenstown.

This year Chain Reaction Victoria hosted it’s most successful event to date raising more than $1.15 million for our children’s charity partners.

As a result of the fundraising efforts of the 41 riders, and the wonderful financial support of our corporate partners, Chain Reaction’s two major charity partners for 2015, the Starlight Children’s Foundation and Very Special Kids, will benefit from a significant donation ensuring they can continue to support children in need.

The financial support Chain Reaction will afford the Starlight Children’s Foundation in 2015 will ensure their Starlight Express Room at the Monash Children’s Hospital can remain open all year round, providing a haven for sick children and bringing smiles back to their faces.

A major donation to Very Special Kids too will allow for this extremely important charity to complete the fit out of their children’s hospice, opening up more beds and enabling the organisation to care for more children with life-threatening illnesses each year.

Chain Reaction New South Wales rolled out the following week with 29 riders raising over $800,000 for the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Congenital Heart Disease is one of the most common forms of birth defect in newborn babies. Funds raised from the 2015 ride will allow the VCCRI to undertake further research into finding the cause of congenital heart disease. 2015 will be the fourth consecutive year that Chain Reaction has supported the VCCRI, with $1.4m in funding having been provided to the Institute so far.

Chain Reaction and the riders would like to thank everyone for their continued support and donations enabling us to continue to support children in need.
