I am a Queenslander through and through being a local of the Redcliffe Peninsula. From the days since finishing school, I completed an apprenticeship as a Fitter and Turner and after some years in engineering, moved to Sales Engineer and Management with Amoco Australia.
I have been self employed since December 1975 wherein I started and operated a very successful Retail Tyre Service on the Redcliffe Peninsula. In late 1982 on the day after seeing the opening of the Commonwealth Games here in Brisbane, I registered the name of Matilda Fuel Supplies and the Matilda Fuel business was commenced in January 1983. We had 54 Retail Sites and a good hunk of wholesale trade plus operated our own transport fleet. In November 2007 I sold the business but retained all the properties.
Today, my business is mostly property and operates from Narangba. My long standing staff are making it easy for me, to now look at a level of retirement so bike riding and enjoying the fellowship by fellow riders is providing a great transition. I have 2 boys and 5 grandchildren which definitely keeps me active.
I love life.
